A convenient byproduct of my career in high tech (I’ve worked with the internet since the late 70s when it was used only by universities and the military) is that I’ve learned a thing or two about what makes a website useful. That and my experience writing about technology and overseeing development of web-based software interfaces has given me a foundation of knowledge and skill that I use to develop simple websites for business, education, and personal enjoyment.
I developed this site as a sort of business / personal hybrid. As you can see, it’s fairly light on fancy graphics. Complex graphics take time to produce (time = money), which drives up development costs, and they aren’t necessary to get your point across in a fairly elegant manner.
